Fire pump troubleshooting

A guide that starts from the symptom: won't prime, loses prime at draft, short on capacity or pressure, transfer valve won't shift, relief valve or governor won't hold, won't shift into pump, overheating, packing leaks and cavitation. Each one lists the likely causes in the order to check them, how to tell them apart and the fix, from NFPA 1910 and the Hale, Waterous and Darley manuals. Prints cleanly for the bay.

Shop tools, rebuilt

One search across NFPA 1910 and the DOT annual inspection: ask it "minimum brake lining" or "seat belt webbing" and it finds the rule. Plus a brake and tire check against the DOT limits, and calculators for voltage drop, unit conversions and refrigerant pressure-temperature.

A more careful readiness score

Readiness is now a cautious estimate of how you'd do on the real test. It weighs your latest answers most, counts questions you haven't seen yet at a careful rate, and shows the low end of the range, so it climbs as you cover more of the test.
